Parasite is a dark comedy thriller film directed by Bong Joon-ho, starring Song Kang-ho, Lee Sun-kyun, Cho Yeo-jeong, Choi Woo-shik, and Park So-dam.

It premiered on May 21 at the Cannes Film Festival 2019 where it won the Palme d’Or, the highest prize awarded in the film festival.

The film is now known as the first-ever Korean film to receive the prestigious award with a unanimous vote since the 2013 French film Blue Is the Warmest Colour.

It accumulated USD 90.1 million of box office worldwide to date, with more than 1.6 million tickets sold in France based on the CBO box office.

The internationally-acclaimed film tells a story about the Kim family who struggles to survive with low-paying jobs. An opportunity came when the wealthy Park family is looking for an English tutor for their daughter.

To get the job, Kim Ki-woo, portrayed by actor Choi Woo-shik, fakes his credentials to get the job and eventually convinces the Park family to unknowingly hire his whole family. The meeting of the two families unravels intriguing mishaps and secrets.

If you were not able to watch the film when it premiered in the Philippines last August, you now have the chance to watch it because Cinema Centenario is currently screening it until September 28
