According to the band’s website, Frey succumbed to complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Acute Ulcerative Colitis and Pneumonia.

A message on the website says “The Frey family would like to thank everyone who joined Glenn to fight this fight and hoped and prayed for his recovery. Words can neither describe our sorrow, nor our love and respect for all that he has given to us, his family, the music community & millions of fans worldwide.”

As a tribute, the website’s splash page also has a playable version of It’s Your World Now, written by Frey and Jack Tempchin, who has written songs for some of the American music industry’s biggest names, including the Eagles.

Frey co-founded the Eagles with singer Don Henley, and wrote several chart-topping hits for the band including Tequila Sunrise (1973), Take It Easy (1972), and Hotel California (1977).
