  • MMDA Lifts Number Coding Scheme from April 17 to 22
  • The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced on Monday, April 15 that the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program or number coding scheme will be suspended from April 17, Holy Wednesday to April 22, Monday in observance of Holy Week.

According to MMDA, the said number coding scheme suspension is made to ensure that there are enough public utility vehicles on the road to serve commuters going to provinces and also to allow motorists to use their vehicles going to their destinations up to their return to Metro Manila after the Lenten break.

In addition to this, more than 1,600 traffic personnel will be deployed in major thoroughfares, bus terminals, seaports, harbors, airports, and major churches in Metro Manila to manage the traffic flow from April 17 to 22.

Motorists should expect an increase in traffic volume and delays along EDSA this week due to the bus augmentation program or deployment of transport buses because of the maintenance shutdown of MRT-3.

The number coding scheme is set to resume on Tuesday, April 23.
