  • MMDA Imposes “No Window Hours” Scheme to All Major Roads in Metro Manila
  • The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced on March 26 the implementation of “no window hours” policy for number coding scheme in all major roads and Mabuhay Lane in Metro Manila effective immediately.

Under the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) or number coding scheme, vehicles are banned to drive in major roads in the metro on a certain day of the week based on the ending digits of their license plate or conduction sticker between 7 am and 8 pm.

“We have agreed to standardize the “no window hours” scheme on national roads and roads listed as Mabuhay Lane,” said MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia in a meeting attended by 17 representatives from local government units in Metro Manila.

In addition to Garcia’s statement, the members of the Metro Manila Council (MMC) composed of Mayors of Metro Manila have also agreed to amend the existing number coding schemes and traffic code in their jurisdiction.

Among the covered national roads of the new policy are EDSA, Commonwealth Avenue, Roxas Boulevard, and Marcos Highway.

MMDA traffic enforcers will seize violators on national roads, while traffic enforcers of local government units will apprehend violators in their jurisdiction.
