  • In line with Malacañang declaration Nov. 13 – 15, 2017 as special holidays in preparation for the 31st ASEAN Summit and Related Summits, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced road closures in some parts of Metro Manila to prepare for the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Related Summits in this month.

    Drivers should avoid passing through the designated lockdown routes in Metro Manila, found mostly in Pasay and in Manila./IMAGE DILG Philippines

    Only pedestrians and vehicles with ASEAN IDs will be allowed to pass during the scheduled lockdown while the general public will be denied access to these routes. Pedestrians and vehicles without ASEAN IDs and decals will be allowed to use these roads during the partial lockdown on November 8, the date of the night-time dry run.

    Sea operations in Manila Bay have been banned on ASEAN Summit since November 5, 2017. The MMDA has also advised motorist to refrain from passing through the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and EDSA as these roads will be used by ASEAN delegates. Security and safety preparations for the ASEAN summit is spearheaded by the Committee on Security, Peace and Order, Emergency Preparedness and Response (CSPOEPR), which is composed of 21 member agencies headed by the DILG.
