  • MARYLAND, USA – It’s another first for the Philippines as Team David’s Salon became the first Philippine and Southeast Asian team to compete in the Race Across America last June 17.

PODIUM FINISH. Apart from being the first Southeast Asian team to compete in Race Across America, Team David’s Salon also paced 2nd in their category.

Now on its 36th edition, Race Across America (RAAM) is an ultra-marathon bicycle race across the United States. It is the world’s toughest and longest time trial race. This year, Team David’s Salon took the start 4-man mixed team representing the Philippines to cover the 5060km of this year’s edition.

TEAM DAVID’S SALON. Here’s the first Southeast Asian team in the annual RAAM (from left to right): Guillaume d’Aboville, Vany Bandoy Hans, Carmela Serina Pearson, and her husband Colin Pearson.

The team was composed of Carmela Serina Pearson, her husband Colin Pearson, Vany Bandoy Hans and Guillaume d’Aboville. RAAM began in Oceanside, California, and ended in Annapolis, Maryland.

Team David’s Salon was not only the first Philippine-based team to participate but it also was the first from South-East Asia to race through the 12 States, four rivers (the Colorado, Mississippi, Missouri, and Ohio) and three major mountain ranges (the Sierra, Rocky, and Appalachian) of the RAAM race course.

The team completed RAAM in 8 days and 1 hour, thus a day before the 9-day cut-off. They finished on the podium, taking the second place in their category.

Other partners of Team David’s Salon included Fuji-Haya Electric, LS, Task Us, Malayan Insurance, Union Jack Tavern, Affinage, Off-Kilter, CCI France Philippines, and Bontrager.
