Big names in the development industry convene at Okada Manila
The Guild of Real Estate Entrepreneurs and Professionals (GREENPRO) convened last month at the biggest integrated casino-resort in the Philippines, Okada Manila to get an exclusive tour of the project. This event was hosted by the project’s local interior designer, Goudie Associates with the help of the Japanese concept architect, Miurashin Architects Associates.
Okada Manila has been a popular topic in the casino and gaming industry for more than 3 years. Finally, this very ambitious project has come into fruition after almost 5 and a half years for Goudie Associates who were the very first local consultants hired for this project.
Being involved in over 85% of the casino-resort’s interiors, Goudie Associates worked on all 520 rooms of tower A’s deluxe, presidential and chairman’s suites, all the five- 1,800 sqm. villas, various public areas, over 60% of the food & beverage outlets, all retail corridors, main function halls and all back-of-house areas. It goes without saying that because of the company’s extensive involvement, it remains to be a favorite focus of their portfolio.
The tour started early at the property’s 800-meter Crystal Corridoras Architect Michael Famero, Goudie Associates’ hospitality director proceeded to explain the detailing done for the interiors –noting especially the Guinness World Records nominated projection mapping technology used along the curtain wall for its length and impressive clarity. The Crystal Corridor also circles the massive man-made lake that features the highly acclaimed dancing fountain to rival the likes in Las Vegas and Dubai.
The group then proceeded to walk through works of the company at the retail corridors and around the regular patron’s lobby as well as the VIP lobby.The chandeliers and crystals used on the drapery brought about a jaw dropping response from GREENPRO as the specifics was explained by the team from Goudie Associates.
Different strategies on the materials used were also discussed to address the ease of maintenance in the main gaming area.The group also got an exclusive peak of The Cove: a 100-meter diameter glass dome housing Manila’s next premier nightclub. Goudie Associates team began to narrate that the newest party venue would be the first of its kind and scale in the Philippines featuring an indoor swimming pool next to the club with VIP decks on mezzanine levels. The group was also walked through few of the food & beverage outlets that were already operational as well as through the deluxe rooms showcasing the newest technology in the industry.
The biggest challenge faced by the local designers, Goudie Associates, was translating the conceptual designs of MAA into something that’s both feasible and code compliant without compromising the aesthetics. In keeping true to the design and objective of creating a world class landmark for the Philippines, Okada Manila was delivered through the collaboration and dedication of various consultants in the industry.
