Metro-wide earthquake drill happening on July 14
This July 14, a Metro Manila-wide earthquake drill will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. by the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC). All offices, schools are expected to participate and duck, cover and hold their heads this Friday.

This is brought to you by Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA). Aside from the usual drill, be informed that there will be a five-minute phone signal interruption. They want the drill to look and feel authentic in order to be prepared for an actual earthquake if it happens in the future.
The event will continue further on July 15-17 for government section to test NDRRMC preparedness. This drill will help everyone to be ready and an awareness for the earthquake that happened last week in the Visayas region and for the anticipated ‘Big One’ earthquake.

NDRRMC strictly advises following the Duck, Cover and Hold, it is also said that a person should avoid running during the drill. The simulation will also serve as a guide on where to go, where are the safest places to stay, and what to do during an actual earthquake.
During the drill and actual earthquake, it is recommended to not panic and focus on getting out of the building or preventing harm to oneself during the movement of the ground. The NDRRMC has already facilitated its second nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill last June 29 in Davao City.
The next drill is expected to happen in Silang, Cavite in September.
