2016 TOYM Awardees honored at Malacañang Palace
Eleven men and women were honored at Malacañang Palace by no less than President Rodrigo Roa Duterte as this year’s The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) awardees last Monday, December 12.

Pres. Duterte led the awards ceremony, where he called on the awardees to continue inspiring other people.
“Our nation is in a crucial period of introducing concrete and meaningful change. I need your support, now more than ever so that we can collectively overcome the illicit of illegal drugs, criminality, and corruption that has plagued our nation for so long,” President Duterte asked from them.

Usually given to 10 men and women per year, this year’s 11 awardees are as follows:
- Carmela Andal-Castro, Law (Child Protection)
- Clarisse Delgado, Community Service
- Ryan Guinaran, Indigenous People Advocacy
- Randy Halasan, Education
- Richard Heydarian, Social Science
- Richard Muallil, Marine Science
- Ronivin Pagtakhan, Youth Leadership
- Geraldine Racaza, Medicine
- Saturnino Tiamzon, Arts in Music
- Jhett Tolentino, Arts in Theater
- Earl Martin Valencia, Entrepreneurship
TOYM awards outstanding men and women between the ages of 18 and 40 whose “selfless dedication to their profession or vocation has resulted in significant contributions to the welfare of their countrymen and our country at large, as well as to the advancement of their respective fields of endeavor.”
Now on its 56th year, the award is an annual project of JCI Philippines. It’s a who’s who of outstanding achievements in areas such as community services, the arts, education, science, etc.
