In June 2015, according to Olympic Council of Asia, Brunei Darussalam has withdrawn from hosting the event due to lack of venues, accommodation, and preparation time among its reasons.
A month later, the Philippines officially assumed the responsibility of hosting the 2019 SEA Games, according to a report by Philippine Daily Inquirer.
In recent news, the major key players expected to spearhead hosting the event include the Philippine Sports Commission, City Government of Davao, and the University of the Philippines.
10,000 delegates from Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Vietnam, and Singapore are anticipated to attend the 30th SEA Games in the country.
The Philippines hosted the SEA Games three times before in 1981, 1991, and 2005. No final venue has been announced yet for the 2019 event, but organizers are eyeing Davao or Manila.
