The Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene of Quiapo Church will also be closed from Jan 7-9, noting that no holy mass will be physically conducted during the said dates.

The Traslacion, canceled for the second time this year, draws countless devotees nationwide. The procession starts with the pahalik after which the Black Nazarene will be paraded around the Quiapo District and returned to the church.

Officials reminded devotees they can still send their petitions through prayers.

Meanwhile, the NTF requested the Manila Police District and the Joint Task Force COVID Shield to deploy security personnel to stop the Catholic faithful from gathering around the Quiapo Church.

Today Jan 5, the DOH has reported 10,775 new COVID-19, almost double the number of new cases yesterday at 5,434. The tally has now reached 2,871,745, while active cases are at 39,974.
