The Peninsula Manila ranked 25th with a score of 98.40 out of the 100 hotels across the globe chosen as best by the readers of the travel magazine based on facilities, location, service, food, and overall value. They also took the fifth spot on the list of Top 15 Asia City Hotels, the only Philippine hotel to make it to those prestigious lists.
Meanwhile, Palawan placed 19th out of 100 islands with a score of 88.63 in the world category and fifth in the Asia Pacific region.
Travel+Leisure said the properties that made it to the lists “all found innovative ways to deliver exceptional hospitability to their guests” while the standouts in the best islands list “suggest a renewed appreciation” for places that offer unparalleled natural beauty and fewer crowds.
In a press statement, DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat welcomed Palawan’s inclusion in the prestigious list.
“The award accorded to Palawan speaks for the country’s tourism destinations, still being on top of the minds of travelers. The Philippines’ natural wonders, coupled with the world-renowned Filipino hospitality, make destinations like Palawan truly one of the best, not just in the region, but in the world, ” Puyat said.
The travel magazine has recommended Palawan for the best diving experience together with resort island Koh Samui in Thailand.
T + L noted that “when they arrive, guests find mountains as well as white sand beaches washed by the Sulu and South China seas. Resorts range from eco-chic stays to the spectacular Amanpulo resort, accessible only by private plane.”
