TPB to Host PHITEX 2021 Hybrid Edition this September
The Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines will be hosting the Philippine Travel Exchange (PHITEX), the country’s biggest government-organized travel trade event, on September 19-23 at Subic Bay.

TPB announced that sellers may now register online to participate in the upcoming expo, which will be held in a hybrid format due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Last year’s PHITEX was about pivoting as we had to face the challenges of going hybrid and leveraging on technology more than ever to conduct our business. Thankfully, it was a resounding success, so we are very much excited to pick up where we left off but with a clearer perspective this time around because we are no longer adjusting,” TPB Chief Operating Officer Maria Anthonette Velasco-Allones said.

This year’s theme, Beyond Business: Co-creating Safe, Smart and Sustainable Tourism, will highlight safe, smart, and sustainable tourism as part of the TPB’s strategic marketing plan for the new normal.
The PHITEX 2021 Hybrid Edition will include a two-day Travel Exchange, webinars, networking sessions, opening and closing ceremonies, an awarding ceremony for top-rated buyers and sellers, and other online activities to keep participants engaged.
In 2020, it was held as a hybrid event in Panglao, Bohol, where it successfully secured 76 on-site bookings with projected revenue of over Php 42 million and has established 3,946 contacts and generated 1,205 leads.
The TPB said that PHITEX is targeting more than a hundred buyers and sellers this year.

Philippine sellers who want to join must be DOT-accredited or TPB members. Meanwhile, foreign buyers must be companies that are already selling the country as a tourist destination but would want to enhance their tour programs or those looking to include the country in their respective programs.
Participation in PHITEX 2021 is on a pre-registration and a first-come, first-served basis. For interested buyers and sellers, registration is free at the official website.
PHITEX is the biggest government-organized travel trade event in the Philippines first held in 1996. Patterned after the ASEAN Tourism Forum, this event host qualified international buyer delegates from all over the world to participate in table-top business appointments with accredited Philippine tourism suppliers. Invited foreign participants are also given a chance to experience what the country can offer as a tourism destination during pre-and post-tours featuring key attractions and destinations.
