5 Filipino Brands Won Stars at UK’s Great Taste Awards 2020
Through the years, the Philippines has gotten more and more competitive when it comes to producing local and quality goods. Several local products have been making names outside the country and just this year, five local brands from the country won stars at UK’s Great Taste Awards!
Auro Chocolate
One of the country’s top local chocolate brands, Auro Chocolate is known for producing chocolates made of beans directly sourced from Mindanao. The brand has won several awards throughout the years. This year is even more exciting for the brand as they bagged seven international awards!
The Great Taste Awards is judged using a 3-star system and Auro’s 85% Mana Single-Estate Dark Chocolate bar got a 2 out of 3 stars. Meanwhile, six other products were awarded one-star such as 85% Regalo Single-Varietal Dark Chocolate, 77% Dark Chocolate, 55% Dark Chocolate, 42% Milk Chocolate, and Peanut Hot Chocolate.

Theo & Philo Artisan Chocolates
Another local chocolatier, Theo & Philo Artisan Chocolates bagged a one-star for four of their products this year. Theo & Philo Artisan Chocolates is the first bean-to-bar single-origin chocolates in the Philippines.
This artisan chocolate brand honors high-quality local ingredients such as the cacao beans of Davao and the world-renowned sugar of Bacolod. They make bean-to-bar chocolates from pure cocoa butter and real chocolates.
Among the products that were awarded the one-star are all under the dark chocolate category: 70% Dark Hot Chocolate, 90% Dark Chocolate, 60& Dark Chocolate, and Dark Chocolate with Ginger and Mint.
Rosario’s Delicacies
Apart from chocolates, several delicacies also made its way to the Great Taste Awards. Rosario’s Delicacies, a Davao-based product, earned a one-star for their “tableya”.

Mount Mayon
Among the local Filipino products that won at this year’s Great Taste Awards, Mount Mayon was the only brand that garnered three-stars for their products.
The brand got three-stars for its pili-nut products such as the Himalayan Pink Salt and Natural Nut Butter. Meanwhile, their Ecuadorian Cacao and Tiramisu pili nuts garnered two stars.
Super Scoops
The Super Food Grocer’s premium vegan ice cream called “Super Scoops” also bagged one-star for their Super Scoops Dairy-Free in Coffee Cashew Crumble and Choco Brownie Madness.
