  • Ascent Launches Ride-Sharing Service Using Helicopters
  •  If you need to be in your destination on time and a car or motorcycle ride still won’t do, why don’t you book a helicopter instead?

Tech startup Ascent Urban Air Mobility launched a service that offers flights aboard modern choppers to provide hassle-free travels within and around cities in the country. The services are operated by INAEC Aviation Corporation.

As of now, passengers can book a flight through their website and fly between areas such as INAEC Manila Hangar in NAIA, SM City North EDSA in Quezon City, V&A Law Center in BGC, The Peninsula Manila in Makati, INAEC Clark in Pampanga, and City Track Oval in Tagaytay.

A ride from Makati to BGC, which will take roughly 5 minutes, costs Php 6,900/pax. Flying from NAIA to Quezon City is at Php 10,900/pax for a 15-minute ride.

Meanwhile, if you’re heading to BGC from the airport (within 10 minutes), the ride costs Php 8,900/pax.

Cancellations are non-refundable for no-shows and late passengers, thus they suggest to arrive at the helipad at least 20 minutes prior to the flight time.

Ascent only allows helicopter-friendly luggage, which includes cabin baggage smaller than 56cm x 36cm x 23cm and lighter than 10kg in weight. Otherwise, they will recommend value-added services such as luggage transport for non-helicopter friendly pieces of luggage.

Other services offered are on-ground guest assistanceairport transfers via helicoptershuttle services to dedicated heliports, and corporate packages.

Ascent looks forward to expanding routes to cities in Visayas and Mindanao, including other Southeast Asian countries in the next months and years.

Uber and Grab first presented helicopter services in the Philippines, the UberChopper and the GrabHeli respectively, in 2015. However, these services are no longer offered in the country.
