Panandâ App
“A cool way to revisit Philippine history.” That’s how a review of Panandâ went. Developed independently by Sector4F, Panandâ is a free application compatible with Android devices. It’s a new creation that provides historical markers and commemorative plaques placed by National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP).
The word panandâ means marker, which truly fits its purpose. The application tracks historical markers that can be viewed on an interactive map. On the other hand, users have an option to browse them as a list. The app also allows you to mark the places you have already visited. By doing this, you will have an overview of historical places you’ve never been.
Panandâ has 520 historical markers to date, complete with photos. Data for the app came from Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons which are projects of Wikipedia. If you are keen on observing places that hold significance to our country, then this application would be a great help. Now, accessing historical places and plaques is easier. Panandâ is comprehensive as it covers most of the country’s historical places.
Although it is not affiliated with NHCP, it highly contributes to NHCP’s vision and mission. NHCP is responsible for promoting Philippine history and cultural heritage. As this application makes its way to popularity, it will aid public awareness for places that shaped the Philippines today.
