Maynilad Announces Affected Areas of Water Interruption Starting March
Aside from out-of-town travels and beach trips, the summer season in the Philippines also poses something that is not so fun—water interruptions.
And as early as now, residents of the Western part of Metro Manila should be ready as Maynilad Water Services Inc. announced daily rotational service interruptions in at least 18 cities and municipalities starting this March.
The following are the affected areas included in the list:
- Caloocan
- Manila
- Makati
- Malabon
- Muntinlupa
- Navotas
- Parañaque
- Pasay
- Quezon City
- Valenzuela
- Areas in Bulacan and Cavite
According to Maynilad’s Facebook post dated on February 28, the interruption is due to Ipo Dam’s decreasing water level attributed to the weakening of runoffs at the Ipo watershed. Despite Angat Dam’s 42 cubic meters per second (cms) allocation, Ipo Dam is going below its maintaining level of 101 meters for the past week.
With this, Maynilad has downgraded its normal water allocation of 48 cms to 42 cms in Metro Manila and other nearby provinces.
The water interruption is to be strictly implemented in the said areas until Ipo Dam’s water elevation increases.

Maynilad advises affected residents to store water according to what is only needed to avoid affecting the water pressure in the pipelines. Of course, saving water by turning off the faucet and other sources when not in use is also a must. Once the water service resumes, let the water flow for a few seconds until it clears out.
