CNN Recognizes Vigan as One of the Most Picturesque Towns in Asia
Known as the home of historical treasures in the Philippines, Vigan City was recently picked by Atlanta-based CNN as one of the most picturesque towns in Asia.

The city is popular for its charming destinations such as the Calle Crisologo, which was acknowledged by UNESCO as the Heritage City, with 200 Spanish Colonial era homes along the street.

Along with Calle Crisologo is the white and yellow church, St. Paul Cathedral, which was built in 1641 and was later on renovated after a number of natural calamities.
CNN also mentioned the welcoming vibe of Vigan Public Market, selling Vigan’s best delicacies such as empanada, Vigan longganisa, and bibingka.
Towns that are mentioned in CNN’s list are Hoi An in Vietnam, Yufuin in Japan, George Town in Malaysia, Luang Prabang in Laos, Kampot in Cambodia, Phuket Town in Thailand, Saikung in Hong Kong, Zhouzhuang in China, Kota Gede in Indonesia, Galle in Sri Lanka, Mawlynnong in India, and Ghandruk in Nepal.

In line with this, Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat pointed out that tourism is not only about environmental sustainability but also the preservation of history and culture of a place—which has a significant role in strengthening the history of the country.
Vigan City was visited by 1.4 million tourists in the year 2017, making it the most popular tourist destination in the Philippines.
