Bulacan International Airport to Start Construction in December
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and San Miguel Holdings Corporation (SMHC) signed a contract for the construction and operation of the Bulacan International Airport project last September 11.
A first look at the soon-to-rise Bulacan International Airport
The $15-billion international airport project is said to commence the construction in December and is targeted for operations within four to six years.
DOTr formally issued the Notice of Award (NOA) to SMHC on August 14, which stated that the latter will initiate the financing, design, construction, supply, completion, testing, commissioning, and operation and maintenance of the new international gateway.
According to DOTr Undersecretary for Planning and Project Implementation Benny Reinoso, the new airport project will help in decongesting the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), while also providing the traveling public a world-class airport geared to give the Filipino people a comfortable life.
The proposed gateway will have four runways to accommodate a large number of passengers
“Finally, we can push forward with the Bulacan International Airport. […] Once operational, this new airport will give connectivity options to our citizens,” Usec. Reinoso said.
