LIST: Movies to Watch This August 2019
The first half of 2019 was full of amazing films, from new Marvel Cinematic Universe films to Disney live adaptations. It’s safe to say that the year is quite a good year for film enthusiasts.

But the year isn’t over yet—in fact, there are some movies in the next few months that you wouldn’t want to miss!
Here’s a quick list of some of the films that you can catch at cinemas this August:
Crawl (August 7)
Crawl follows a series of events as Haley ignores the evacuation orders to search for her father, Dave, after a massive hurricane hit a town in Florida. Haley finds him gravely injured in their home, and as they figure out a way to get to safety, they are trapped by the floodwaters. As the storm strengthens, Haley and Dave discover that an even greater threat exists—a pack of gigantic alligators.
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (August 7)
Based on the children’s book by the same name, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is set in 1968 in Mill Valley—a small town where, for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed. A young girl named Sarah turned her tortured life into a series of horror stories in a book that has transcended time. Her stories, however, are not like any other as they have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teens who find themselves in Sarah’s home.
The Art of Racing in the Rain (August 7)
Based on the 2008 novel of the same name, The Art of Racing in the Rain follows the story of Enzo, a dog owned by Eve and Denny Swift. In a peculiar narrative, Enzo narrates and reflects about his life experiences, which helped him to prepare to protect his family in times of great need.
Dora and the Lost City of Gold (August 14)
No longer the child explorer that we all know—Dora, now a teenager with her best friend Boots, rallies a group of their friends including Diego (Dora’s cousin), on an adventure to save her parents and to solve the mystery behind the lost Incan civilization.
Good Boys (August 14)
Three sixth-graders ditch school and embark on a journey. On the way, they find themselves accidentally carrying stolen drugs, being hunted by teenage girls—all while trying to make their way home in time for a much-awaited party. Good Boys is a comedy that will surely give you the giggles for days.
Ready or Not (August 21)
Ready or Not is a black comedy horror-thriller that follows Grace who marries Daniel, the man of her dreams, at his family’s extravagant mansion. However, as the festivities die down, Grace discovers that there is a catch: she must now hide from midnight until dawn while her in-laws hunt her down to complete a ghastly game where everyone must fight to survive.
Angel Has Fallen (August 21)
Angel Has Fallen is the third film in the Olympus Has Fallen film series that follows Mike Banning in the events after 2016’s London Has Fallen. Authorities take Secret Service agent Mike Banning into custody for his failed assassination of President Allan Trumbull. While Banning manages to escape from his captors, he must now evade the FBI and his own agency to find out who the real threat is. In desperation, he looks to unlikely allies to help him clear his name and save the country from danger.
Weathering with You (August 21)
From the same production company and director that brought the critically-acclaimed 2016 film, Your Name (Kimi no Na wa) – Weathering with You follows Hodaka Morishima, a high school freshman who runs away from his home to move to Tokyo, where he meets Hina Amano, a girl with the unique ability to control the weather. As they begin to fall in love, they discover that Hina’s abilities hold the secret to changing Tokyo and its weather forever.
Stuber (August 28)
Stuber is about Stu, a mild-mannered Uber driver who, by chance, picks up a detective who is on the trail of a terrorist. He finds himself thrust into an ordeal where he has to keep himself unharmed, keep his wits, and work with his passenger—all while trying to maintain his high-class Uber Driver rating.
Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood (August 28)
Directed by Quentin Tarantino, Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood takes viewers to 1969 Los Angeles during a time where everything is changing. A faded television actor Rick Dalton and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth strive to achieve fame and success in the industry during the last few years of Hollywood’s Golden Age.
