Order of the Star of Italy

The Order of the Star of Italy is originally an order of knighthood to recognize extraordinary contributions for the reconstruction of Italy after World War II. In 2011, it was reformed to honor Italians abroad or foreign for efforts in the promotion of friendly relations between Italy and other countries.

The full Italian title Cavaliere dell’ Ordine della Stella d’Italia roughly translates as the Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy. The first Filipino knighted with this honor is Ernest de Leon Escaler and recently in 2018, chef Margarita Forés.
