  • CNT Names 3 Philippine Destinations in its Asia’s Top 5 Best Islands
  • The Philippines has once again embedded its name as one of the most preferred tourist destinations as it books its three islands — Siargao, Palawan, and Boracay — at the Top Five Best Islands in Asia in the premier lifestyle and travel publication Conde Nast Traveler (CNT).

“It is an honor for our destinations to be voted once again in the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards. This serves as an invitation to the tourists in time for the winter vacation,” DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat cited in a press release.

Siargao, a famous surfing location in the Philippines, has been selected for the first time and is in the front-runner of the list of the best islands in Asia. Boracay places second, which has also been a consistent runner-up with the selections, and lastly, Palawan, stated by CNT as “home to the otherworldly Puerto Princesa Subterranean River, a UNESCO World Heritage Site worth the trip alone,” comes in third.

We’d like to say that surfers are the vanguard of travelers, scoping out some of the more remote parts of the world for surf breaks before the rest of us get there. [Siargao] has been popular for a few years but our readers, an adventurous sort, have caught on. There’s enough white sand to go around.” CNT’s magazine editors claimed.

Boracay, however, had undergone a three-month rehab period which started last August 26, 2018. Boracay is currently on its soft opening stages and will commence its full-blown operation to tourists on October 26, 2018.

“We would like to take this opportunity to tell our tourists to manage their expectations on Boracay’s soft opening. We also encourage them to be mindful and [be] responsible tourists of the island,” Secretary Romulo-Puyat also added as of Boracay’s on-going soft opening, last October 15, 2018.

CNT has curated the list through the majority votes of its whopping 429,000 avid readers.

Among the list that made it in the Top Five Best Islands are Malaysia, Langkawi, Indonesia, and Bali.
