  • Persons with disability (PWDs) no longer have to worry about acquiring their Philhealth memberships as the new Senate bill seeks to provide automatic Philhealth coverage to PWDs.

    Senate Bill 1391, authored by Senators Legarda, Aquino IV, Villanueva, Recto, and Hontiveros aims to aid specific health concerns raised by the PWDs.

    Senate Bill 1391 ensures that the Department of Health (DOH), with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA), the local government units (LGUs), and other government agencies and non-government organizations will conduct periodic monitoring and evaluation after the bill is signed.

    On her Facebook announcement, Hontiveros assures that the Philippine health service can cater the needs of every Filipino, most especially those who hve disabilities “Sa ilalim ng panukalang batas na ito, ang serbisyong pangkalusugan ay napapalapit sa lahat, lalung-lalo na sa mga Pilipinong may kapansanan,” Hontiveros explains.
