  • CAAP launches Oplan Semana Santa 2018
  • The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) is already at it with Holy Week preparations as they launched Oplan Semana Santa 2018 last Sunday, March 18.

CAAP expects an eight percent increase in passengers between March 25 (Palm Sunday) and April 1 (Easter Sunday), prompting them to implement measures that will address the increased load in the airports they manage.

“Added security measures will be in place to ensure safe, reliable, and convenient operations at all 40 commercial airports in the country in the next two weeks,” the agency said in a statement.

A no-leave and day-off policy will be put in place for airport service and security personnel for the duration of the Holy Week. Additional security personnel will be deployed at all 37 CAAP-managed airports along with help desks to attend to immediate passenger concerns. CAAP has also coordinated with OTS and PNP-AVSEGROUP for perimeter security and surveillance.

Air travelers are reminded to stick to current baggage policies, especially those that pertain to prohibited items. CAAP also told travelers to stow all belongings inside your carry-on luggage for faster processing at the check-in counter.
