Traslacion Advisory: Globe, Smart suspend mobile services
As part of the security measures during today’s Traslacion, two major telcos Globe and Smart announced the temporary suspension of mobile services around the areas where the Black Nazarene procession will pass.
Globe, TM, Smart, Talk ‘N Text (TNT) and Sun users will experience mobile signal loss or disruptions in Manila, Quezon City, Mandaluyong and Makati until the midnight of January 10. Customers in nearby areas like Cavite may also be affected.
The service suspension was requested by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and ordered by the National Telecommunications Commissions (NTC). This move was done to prevent any improvised explosive device (IED) from being triggered remotely during the grand procession.
