The opening ceremony of the newly paved segment of the highway was held October 27 in Taguig City, which included the unveiling of the first stretch of a 3-meter bicycle lane. This makes Laguna Lake Highway the first highway in the country which has incorporated a space for bikers and joggers, making it more pedestrian-friendly.

The Php 1.4-million construction of the 1.3-kilometer highway also included provisions for plant strips, sidewalk, turn-out, and drainage works.

The Laguna Lake Highway project is expected to lessen travel time between Bicutan and Taytay, Rizal by 30 minutes.

The Phase III of the project, which will add another 4.3 kilometers to the highway, is already in the works and is expected to be completed by August 2018.
