  • Repertory Philippines unveils shows for 2018 Season
  • We’re still a good two months away from the forthcoming year and Repertory Philippines, also called REP, is already giving everyone in the media a huge buzz with an exclusive preview of what’s to come in the local theater company’s 2018 season.

Repertory Philippines is ending the current season with a bang, with the grand musicale Hair.

But before we jump to a new season, REP, which is also celebrating its golden anniversary this year, still has something big in store for us. The theater group is aptly exiting the current season with a bang with a grand musicale entitled Hair. The first-ever tribal love-rock musical on Broadway, Hair stars Markki Stroem and Topper Fabregas as the alternating actors for Claude, George Schulze as Berger, and Caisa Borromeo as Sheila. This iconic production will hit the Onstage Theater of Greenbelt 1 on November 17 until December 17.

Now looking ahead, there’s a lot to look forward to in the coming year. For 50 years, REP has been delivering the best of West End and Broadway to the theater enthusiasts in the country, and REP President and CEO Mindy Perez-Rubio reaffirms that REP is “embarking on the next 50 years with the same passion and drive to bring live theater to more people. 2018 is a good start,” she remarks, “and we have a superb lineup of meaningful shows that are sure to touch and inspire.”

REP will kick off the new year with a hilarious Paris-set Comedy of Tenors, which will run from January 26 to February 18.

Silent Sky, a stellar production that follows the story of female astronomers, will follow on March 2 – 25.

And then, on April 6 – 29, Arsenic and Old Lace will entertain the audience with an unforgettable black comedy that revolves around the insane and homicidal family of the Brewsters.

Furthermore, REP has gotten 2018 all worked out with Rapunzel, a production of REP Theater for Young Audiences, which will run from September 15 until January 27, 2019.

We can also look further ahead to the musical production of Miong, which will kick off REP’s 2019 season. Miong will tell the life of Emilio Aguinaldo, just in time for his 150th birth anniversary.

All of the shows will be held at the Onstage Theater in Greenbelt 1, Makati. You can already secure seats for the upcoming shows through REP at (02)843-3570 or via TicketWorld.
