  • A Filipino Paralympics athlete who overcame his condition and reinvented himself as a strong adventurer has now set his sights on a bigger challenge, after bagging Philippines’ first medal in the ASEAN Para Games held at the Velodrome Nasional Malaysia in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan!

    Arthus Bucay, a 37-year old Paralympics athlete defeated the odds by placing 2nd in the men’s kilometer event of track cycling, giving the Philippines its very first medal for the 2017 ASEAN Para Games.

    Bucay has been cycling for a couple of years but met an accident in 2013 which required an operation that left him with unproportioned legs. Placing second, however, marked Bucay’s second win, after winning the bronze medal in 2014’s Incheon Asian Para Games. During the duration of the said competition, Bucay managed to survive the whole cycle run and was able to finish after 1 hour, 15 minutes and 4.32 seconds.
