  • North Korea Invites Travelers to Go on a Themed Tour
  • North Korea’s tourism agency is now offering themed tours and recently launched a website that details different activities and tourist spots in Pyongyang and other parts of the country.

Although the country has been subject to numerous sanctions concerning nuclear weapons and human rights among others, the DPR Korea Tour website depicts North Korea as a tourist destination developed “afresh under the wise leadership of supreme leader Kim Jong Un.”

Run by the North’s National Tourism Administration, the site provides themed tours, itineraries, and even travel tips. Travelers are invited to try surfing, rice planting, or touring the beautiful beaches and mountains.

Despite this seemingly warm invitation, the US State Department strongly advises travelers against visiting North Korea. Other countries like Canada, Australia, and New Zealand echo this warning.
