New Uber Feature Lets You Request A Ride For Someone Else
Uber has formally launched a new in-app feature that lets you request a ride for another guest.
When you set a pickup away from your current location, the app automatically detects and asks who will be riding. You can then choose the rider from your contacts list, enter their destination, and request a ride for them.

Once a driver accepts the request, the driver’s details and a link to track the driver’s route will be sent as a text message to the rider. The driver will also be able to see the rider’s details and contact them directly. Meanwhile, you can track the progress of the ride on your app as well.
You can pay for the ride using your credit card on file, or the rider can pay in cash at the end of the trip.

Although many Uber users have been doing this, the process of booking a ride for someone else is just made simple. Instead of having to go back and forth, calling the driver and updating the rider, you can now be at ease because they can already contact each other directly.
Uber’s new feature was originally inspired by senior citizens who usually can’t use a smartphone and have limited transportation options. Now, Uber users can help anyone in the family, as well as friends, who needs a reliable ride but doesn’t have access to the app or the Internet.
