  • Three outstanding Filipinos have made it to Forbes Asia’s heroes of philanthropy.

Every year, global media company Forbes lists top philanthropists who have done notable contributions to each of their countries by their donations or work to those in need. According to Forbes, they only pick true philanthropists who are giving their own money and not just donating shareholder funds.

Part of the said list is former Filipina actress and model Nanette Medved-Po. As per Forbes, Medved-Po founded Generation Hope in 2012, by using 100% of profits from its product “Hope in a Bottle” Purified Drinking Water to build public school classrooms in the Philippines. At present, Generation Hope has 8,955,807 bottles sold, which has helped build 37 classrooms for 7,310 students.

Cousins David and Daniel Zuellig of the Zuellig Family Foundation are also in the Forbes’ list, for their effort to improve health condition of Filipinos in rural areas by providing training programs to health leaders in the locality. Zuellig is an Asian pharmaceutical company which has contributed an average of $2.3 million annually to the foundation, as per Forbes.

Also part of the Forbes’ Heroes of Philanthropy are Ken Tun of Parami Energy Group in Myanmar and Phat Nhat Vuong of Vingroup in Vietnam. Myanmar and Vietnam just had their first two philanthropists in the list. In 2015, Philippines has Geronimo De Los Reyes of Gateway Property Holdings and Veterinarian Anton Mari Lim on the Heroes list.
