Duterte wins 2017 TIME 100 Reader Poll
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte tops 2017 TIME 100 poll of world’s most influential people.
In the recent online TIME 100 readers’ poll, President Duterte emerged at the top spot with a 5% of “YES” votes among other participants in the poll for the world’s most influential people.
The online poll was started in the last week of March and closed on March 29. The poll was done to know who should be on the 2017 TIME 100, which is the annual list of 100 most influential people in the world assembled by TIME. Part of the top list includes Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, current Pope of the Roman Catholic Church Pope Francis, business magnate Bill Gates, and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, each garnering 3% of the YES votes.

In 2016, U.S. politician and then presidential candidate Bernie Sanders won the TIME 100 reader poll. TIME 100 consists of world’s “notable figures in politics, arts, science and more.” The official list of the 2017 TIME 100 chosen by TIME editors will be released on April 21.
