Learn through food: What to expect at Madrid Fusion Manila 2017
The country’s most anticipated culinary event is happening right now, and yet here you are, still sitting in front of your computer wondering if you should go this Saturday or not (sadly, only Saturday is open to the public).
Worry not, for we at Philippine Primer have gathered a bit of intel on what you should expect once the event kicks off tomorrow at the SMX Convention Center:
Lunch from the country’s different regions
This year, delegates will get to enjoy food from the country’s different regions courtesy of some of the country’s best chefs.
Brought to you by the Department of Tourism, the Regional Lunches during the International Gastronomy Congress will showcase different local dishes across all three days, focusing on a particular product each day of the event.
If you’re a delegate, just head for H3 located at the ground floor of the SMX Convention Center for a taste of that day’s themed lunch.
If you’re an expo visitor, however, worry not. You can still experience these flavors by heading for the many booths set up by the Department of Tourism. This year, they have booths for Regions 1, 2, 3, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Bicol Region, and those in Mindanao, namely Zamboanga.
Flavors as far as your palate can handle
Food has always been about flavor, and Madrid Fusion Manila 2017 will be a place for you to experience a variety of them. Since the International Food Congress is off-limits to non-delegates, make sure you head for the SMX Convention Center on Saturday, April 8 for the public opening of Fusión Manila International Gastronomy Expo.
Treat your tastebuds, and elevate your knowledge about sustainable gastronomy at the upcoming Fusión Manila…
For a nominal entrance fee, get to experience tastings, seminars, and presentations on some of the hottest topics in the culinary industry, including Mango Flour, 3rd Wave Coffee, local craft beers, and a preview of some Spanish staples.
Learn from nothing short of the best
You’d be hard-pressed to see a lineup this stacked if you’re talking about the who’s who of the culinary world, and only Madrid Fusion has the power to bring all these names under one roof.

Learn from the likes of Gene Gonzales (Café Ysable), Jordy Navarra (Toyo Eatery), Jordi Roca and Alejandra Rivas Gomez (El Celler de Can Roca), as well as Ray Adriansyah and Eelke Plasmeijer (Locavore) at this year’s Madrid Fusion Manila 2017.
Food, food, and more food
Of course, the reason why people head for Madrid Fusion Manila is the food. There’s food for days, and you’ll probably have a hard time sampling all of them, even if you’re given the entire day at SMX Convention Center.
We suggest you line up early on Saturday, April 8 for the public opening of Madrid Fusion Manila 2017. If you’re a professional or amateur chef, you can head straight for the event and register on-site. For more information on registering as a delegate, visit www.madridfusionmanila.com.
