Filipina Comedian Ai Ai Delas Alas wins at film festival in New York
One of the Philippines’ renowned Filipina comedian, Ai Ai Delas Alas, recently won Best Female Actor at the 7th Queens World Film Festival, held in New York City, on March 19 (US Time)
Delas Alas won the Best Female Actor Narrative for her portrayal in an indie film Area, directed by one of the Philippines’ respected cinematographer and director Louie Ignacio. According to Interaksyon, it was Delas Alas’ first award in an international film festival.
Known for her comedic performances in film and television, including Ang Cute ng Ina Mo and Tanging Ina, Delas Alas, now 52, has taken a more serious and dramatic role, proving how versatile she is as an actress.

Area is headed to the West Coast as part of the 50th Worldfest Houston International Film Festival in Texas, from April 21-30.
The Queens World Film Festival is a multi-venue festival, a year-round screening opportunity for QWFF filmmakers. It is also programmed in thematic blocks with evocative titles, and each program is followed by a post-screening dialogue to engage audiences from the diverse communities that comprise the region of Queens.
