  • In a report published by Philippine Star, the third new multi-role response vessel from Japan called “BRP Malapascua” (MRRV-403) was introduced during the commissioning ceremony held at Pier 15, South Harbor Manila on March 7, 2017.

    According to Department of Transportation (DOTr), the BRP Malapascua is under the helm of Cmdr. Gary Gimotea as its commanding officer.

    During the ceremony, DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade inspected the vessel’s fire monitors, night vision camera & bullet proof navigational bridge.

    Meanwhile, Japanese Ambassador Kazuhide Ishikawa said that “BRP Malapascua is testament of strong ties between PH & Japan. We will continue to work with & provide assistance to PH.”
