Foreign translators to attend ‘2017 Salínan International Conference’ in PH
The Philippines is set to host a global conference on translation and translation studies called “2017 Salínan International Conference” on September 28-30, 2017 at the Leong Hall Auditorim in Ateneo de Manila Univeristy, Quezon City.
The three-day global conference is organized by the Filipinas Institute of Translation (FIT) in collaboration with the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) and National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
Translation experts and educators from different countries, including India, Hong Kong, Italy, and Canada, are invited as guest speakers to discuss best practices across the world and potential collaboration in the region.
According to Virgilio S. Almario, National Artist for Literature and Chair of the NCCA, “within the current globalization context, translation and translation studies play a crucial role in improving education and economic development, both here and abroad.”
