  • In a report published by Manila Bulletin, above 50 percent of Japanese companies in the Philippines are expanding their operations on prospect of higher profit in the next two years based on the 2016 JETRO Survey on Business Conditions of Japanese Companies in Asia and Oceania.

    As stated by the same report, in the case of the Philippines, 54.4% of companies surveyed are expanding their operations and 49.5% will be hiring more employees this year compared to 40.2 percent in 2016.

    According to data, companies expecting surplus slightly increased, while those expecting deficit slightly decreased. The Philippines with 77.5% is marked the highest, along with Korea (81.0%), among the companies expecting a surplus by country and region.

    The survey, as cited by jetro.go.jp, analyzed eight key points including operating profit forecast, future business plan, management matters, rising costs of production and services, procurement of raw materials and parts, exports/imports, possible impact of the Trans-Pacific Partnership on Business, and wages.
