Winter Escapade is an annual tour for Filipino-Canadians set up by the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). This year, the group will embark on a nine-day tour to select destinations in the country, including Coron, Palawan and Laoag, Ilocos Norte.

The DOT, through the Tourism Promotions Board, launched Winter Escapade Program in 2014 as a way to attract Filipino-Canadians and Canadians to visit the country in February to escape Canada’s notoriously cold winter.

“Every year, Winter Escapade participants enjoy an extraordinary travel experience that makes them return to the Philippines for more. The rich cultural, topographical and bio diversity in our 7,100 islands plus our famed Filipino hospitality make for a truly priceless stay,” said Petronila Garcia, Philippine Ambassador to Canada.

Canada is one of the top 10 contributors in terms of international tourist arrivals in the Philippines according to data from the DOT.
