  • Rachelle Ann Go nailed a role in Hit Musical ‘Hamilton’
  • Filipina actress and singer Rachelle Ann Go joins the cast of the upcoming West End run of hip hop musical Hamilton. She is set to play Elizabeth “Eliza” Schuyler Hamilton, wife of Alexander.

The announcement was made late this week by Broadway.com and Broadwayworld.com.

hamiltoncastRachelle Ann Go posted a photo of her with Lin Manuel-Miranda, the author, librettist, composer, and star of ‘Hamilton’ on her Instagram page.

In an interview with British media, Go said that she auditioned for “Hamilton” while she was in New York preparing to reprise her “Miss Saigon” role for Broadway.

“I was sick that day — and even now I don’t know how I managed to find my singing voice. I thought that would be the last time I’d see Lin-Manuel — and anyone else connected to ‘Hamilton.’ So you can imagine how I cried when they rang and told me I was going to play Eliza,” she said.

Go will be joined by another Filipina, Christine Allado, who will portray Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds in the musical.

Rachelle was also cast for the West End revival of “Miss Saigon,” in the role of bar girl Gigi Van Tranh in 2014. Following this, she was then cast in the role of Fantine for the 30th anniversary of another Cameron Mackintosh-produced musical, “Les Miserables,” which also toured several countries including the Philippines.
