    Air Asia Philippines is aiming to become a prominent airline playing and is waiting for a government clearance to fly to Vietnam and Indonesia to further boost their regional operations.

    Revealed through the filings to the Philippines’ Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB), it was said that Air Asia is seaking 2,520 seats for Manila to Jakarta in Indonesia, and another 2,520 seats to Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam.

    Tony Fernandes, Air Asia Bhd. Group CEO, said that although it was originally planned for 2018, they would be accelerating and hold the initial public offering this year to raise at least $200 million. He also said that up until now, the unit relies on the banking of Air Asia Bhd.

    Garnering 10% of the shares in the country, Air Asia Philippines competes against Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific.
