As reported by CNN Philippines, PCCI was quoted to have talks with Malacañang for possible trips to Saudi Arabia and Qatar in February. The purpose of the visit is to “attract investors from the Middle East, and promote Philippine goods to them,” said PCCI President George Barcelon.
According to Barcelon, businesses from the Middle East are likely to invest in infrastructure, real estate, and tourism industries. As per Arab News, Charge d’Affaires Iric Arribas mentioned that Duterte is expected to meet with Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman.
In numbers, Middle East is home to 1.4 million overseas Filipino workers (OFW), which is equal to 56% of the total population of the OFW.
