Analisa Leonor Balares was one of 10 individuals from across the globe handpicked by UBS as one of their inaugural Global Visionaries. Based in New York, she is the chairperson and founder of Womensphere Foundation as well as the CEO and Founder of Womensphere, a global social enterprise that aims to empower women and girls “to lead, create our future, and transform our world.”
Balares came from humble beginnings in the streets of the Philippines. She has since attended an Ivy League institution (MBA from Harvard Business School), worked at Microsoft (Global Marketing Manager for MSN’s blogging/social networking platform), and Wall Street companies Goldman Sachs, and Milestone Capital.
“I owe this to the support I received from my family, institutional support from the schools, and my network of friends that encouraged me to keep going. I wanted to replicate and spread this type of empowerment to women and girls across the world. It was with this goal that I created Womensphere,” she said in her interview with UBS.
