Although the 3-million-increase may seem a bit ambitious, DOT Secretary Wanda Teo said that they would try their best to market various destinations in the country, especially since there are also several events lined up this year. Two of the international events hosted by the Philippines are the Miss Universe Pageant and the ASEAN 50.
Teo also said that they will work hard to also boost the tourism in Davao and in Mindanao by promoting it in various domestic and international travel fairs. “And in all of the travels that I’ve done especially on international, I endorsed the country’s destinations including Davao,” she said.
She also said that a team of Chinese investors have already gone to the city in early December to see spots in Davao which were referred to them. She stated that they’d prefer beach line properties so they would be able to build hotels and other establishments which will boost the tourism in the area.
