An international fashion designer from the Philippines, John Ablaza recently held his one night only “Couture & Culture” NYC 2016 in 4W43 West 43rd New York last December 10, 2016.
John Ablaza specializes in fabricating garments using sustainable local materials like seeds bark reeds and coconut shells – thus, his identity as an “eco-fashion” designer. His creations have already brought him to the runways all over the world — from Hong Kong, Singapore, London, Bahrain and Sydney to Toronto. “It is a dream come true for me!” he enthused after the show.
Apart from his Zimbabwe inspired collections, John also showcased his couture bow ties during the evening.
John spent a lot of time in Zimbabwe recently teaching fashion techniques to eager designers in several fashion workshops. One lucky designer had the chance to show her creations during John’s show. Yvette Ndaba was truly grateful seeing her ensembles on the runway.
