#Viral2016: Internet Challenges that went viral in the Philippines
Internet challenges come and go like years on a calendar. 2016, however, proved to be quite the year for internet challenges as there were quite a few that became viral particularly in the Philippines.

Here’s a list of five internet challenges that went above and beyond:
Running Man Challenge
FOR CHANGE. This video by PaperbugTV was both relevant and funny, as it showed the “five presidentiables” doing the #RunningManChallenge.
One of the earliest challenges that came out of nowhere was the Running Man Challenge. Set to the tune of Ghost Town DJs’ “My Boo,” it involved performing a version of the Running Man, a dance move taken from the 90s. A lot of versions came out, but perhaps the most relevant one was made by PaperbugTV.
Mannequin Challenge
FREEZE. Literally, you have to freeze for the #MannequinChallenge.
It’s probably the last challenge for the year, but it still made an impact in the country as almost everyone was doing it: normal people, celebrities, and our featured video: members of the First Scout Ranger Regiment.
Trumpets Challenge
MADE YOUR TRUMPETS BLOW. The Phenomenal Love Team grooved to this one, but this video might come in at a close second.
Here’s one challenge that really took off, especially in mid-2016. The Trumpets Challenge involves dancing to the beat of Spanish DJs Sak Noel and Salvi’s “Trumpets”. Several versions were made by Filipinos all over the country, though this one by power couple AlDub probably takes the cake.
Bottle Flip Challenge
NO ATTEMPTS. We didn’t spot anyone famous trying it, but this game has gone to lengths no other game of its kind has gone to.
This one you didn’t see that much of on TV, but the bottle flip challenge definitely went viral not just in the Philippines, but across the world. In fact, it’s gone viral so much that it spawned a mobile game made by local developer Most Played Games with at least 5,000,000 downloads on Google Play.
Bean Boozled Challenge
WARNING: EXPLETIVES AHEAD. That’s MYX VJs Jairus and Sharlene taking on the nastiest challenge of 2016: Bean Boozled.
It’s the first challenge that popped up in Philippine interwebs this year. Nothing fancy here, just two people trying their luck in getting the better-tasting jelly bean. Made by US company Jelly Belly, the first one to try the challenge and post a video of it online were Alodia and Ashley Gosiengfiao. Note: try it at your own risk.
