2009 Hero Efren Peñaflorida, teacher and social worker known for Dynamic Teen Company pioneering the idea of “pushcart classroom” and 2011 Hero of the Year Robin Lim, midwife and founder of Healthy Mother Earth Foundation were two of the only five nominees for CNN SuperHero.
For the campaign’s 10th year, CNN looks back as they visit five previous CNN heroes of the Year to see how their lives have changed and how the organizations they established have grown.
The other nominees included are 2008 Hero Liz McCartney of SBP, 2012 Hero Pushpa Basnet of Early Childhood Development Centre, and 2013 Hero Chad Pregracke of Living Lands & Waters. All five of them will be present at the gala and will each receive $10,000 for their non-profit organizations. The winner for CNN SuperHero will receive $50,000.
Audiences can vote online to select which of the five nominees deserve to be the CNN SuperHero, via CNNHeroes.com, CNN Heroes Facebook page, and on Twitter.
