Globe Telecom expands in Japan
Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Japan and their loved ones here in the Philippines need not worry about lost connections as Globe Telecom expands its coverage to Japan via GlobeTel Japan Inc.
ALWAYS STAY CONNECTED. Set to open its doors in Japan to better serve their customers both here and in the land of the rising sun, Globe has been offering DUO JAPAN promo dedicated to Filipinos in Japan to stay connected with their loved ones. (Photo credit: Globe Telecom official Facebook page)
In a statement released last Monday, July 4, Globe said the move puts the company in a “better position to serve the communications needs of its customers” both in the country and the 180,000 OFWs in Japan.
According to Nikko Acosta, Globe SVP for International Business, “We will continue to provide affordable and high-quality telecom services to our kababayans (fellow countrymen) in Japan. We will also be adopting new business models to deliver meaningful products to overseas Filipinos.”
In the same press release, Globe said they will be closing their offices in the United Kingdom, Italy, and Spain due to the changing competitive landscape in Europe. These three offices are UK Globetel Limited and Globe Mobile Italy s.r.l., both of which opened in 2013, and Globetel Internacional European Espana S.L., which opened in 2014.
They will, however, continue to serve their customers in the three countries through their DUO International, Globe’s popular international call service which allows OFWs to call their loved ones in the country for less than what they would normally pay for international phone calls.
Globe will retain their offices in the United States, Singapore, and Hong Kong. They will also retain retail presence across key markets such as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
