Mizuho Celebrates 20th Anniversary in the Philippines
The year 2015 marks the 20th anniversary of the Manila Branch of Mizuho Bank Ltd.—a prominent financial institution in the world. To honor this milestone, a press conference was held on September 21, 2015 in Makati Shangrila where Nobuhide Hayashi—President and CEO of Mizuho Bank, gave an inspiring speech about the success of Mizuho and the emerging potential of the Philippine market.
Mr. Hayashi emphasized on Mizuho’s commitment to invest in the Asian market where they recognize that 40% of the operational profit is from overseas. Their commitment to Asia led them to invest in the Philippines which they see as having the potential to play a huge role in the Asian market in the future.
He stresses the stability of Philippine peso compared to its neighbors and the quality of work that the labor force produces, and has only praises for the revenue that the overseas workers contribute. Mr. Hayashi also pointed out the big contribution of the BPO industry in the Philippines resulting in some Japanese companies to setting up BPO centers in the country.

As it marks 20 years of visibility in the Philippine market, Mizuho boasts this advantage to its competitors and Mr. Hayashi emphasized that Mizuho is not just a financial investor but a strategic investor instead. He points out that timing is Mizuho’s key to success, being able to take advantage of the right opportunities.
