Katana is a tribute collection to Asia’s fashion capital, Japan, and to the iconic oriental artistry which has a cultural and personal importance to the designer. The collection dances around the warrior aspect of the philosophical literature of the ‘Chrysanthemum and Sword.’

SAMURAI. The show was opened with a samurai inspired ensemble carrying a katana.

Everything in Kaye’s show set a dark oriental mood which she carefully created to catch her vision of the painful path of the Warrior and the Katana, which reflects her own personal journey. She collaborated with shoe designer, Ron Ramilo, in order to complete the looks of her pieces and as well as take a few of them to a whole new level – literally and figuratively!
–
KASA CHIC. A modern kasa is paired with a layered suit.

The pieces in the collection showed creative cuts, technical fabric combinations, and design intricacy. It also showed her own translation of oriental art as she bonded contemporary and post modernistic imagery into her Japanese inspired collection.

The collection’s finale was the grandest of them all. The Japanese umbrella, the golden headpiece, the red origami-like pleated gown – it was fashion perfection. Kaye’s expertise on design and fabric manipulation was exhibited in this geisha inspired ensemble. It took everyone’s breath away!
