  • As an expat living here in the Philippines, it is important that you should know the rules and laws mandated in the country. It is your duty to learn your basic rights as an expat and that includes familiarizing yourself with the different government agencies here in the Philippines. In this post, we list some of the most important Philippine agencies you should know as an expat:

    This agency primarily serves as the office that manages inter-political and economic relations to other countries. This agency is also the one responsible for the execution of foreign policies or anything in terms of foreign relations. In their website, you will see the list of Philippine embassies and consulates you may need for more information as an expat or tourist.

    The Department of Health is the agency responsible for public health services and health care. It is where you can get information when it comes to offices, bureaus, agencies, or any other health-related institutions. It is also where you can get official news when it comes to advisories, republic acts, or alerts for health-related information.

    The Department of Education is the government agency that is primarily responsible for education-related matters. It is where you can get updates for schools, curriculum guide, programs, accreditation and assessment tests, and memoranda for all schools nationwide. It is where you can ask for information such as what are the accredited international schools found in the country.

    One of the attached agencies in DOST is PAGASA: Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration. This agency is where you can find information regarding the state’s weather advisories, flood, rainfall, or thunderstorm warnings, and info about Astronomy. It is where you can get climate information about the different provinces in each region.

    This executive government agency serves as the department which mandates and implements policies when it comes to labor and employment. It serves the millions of workers in the labor force, which includes non government organizations, businesses, employers, employees, and manpower in the Philippines. It is where you can get information for employment opportunities and other needed information as an expat working here in the country.
